Ethics in energy work is paramount. I have blogged about it previously and provided a questionnaire for individuals seeking teachers and practitioners. Yet Spirit continues to send to me clients who do not exhibit any knowledge of what the Ego does or can do. When pressed in conversation about the Ego and the steps they personally take to eliminate their Ego from sessions, etc., they act as if they have no idea of what I am speaking. These are not beginners either – these are individuals who have taken advanced classes in energy modalities, individuals who have been taught to meditate and seek the Light. Yet they have not learned how to set the Ego aside.
I am not going to say that this is the fault of their teachers as I really don’t know what information their teachers shared. I have, however, met many individuals in the last 15 plus years who were taught about the Ego and how detrimental it can be when Serving the Light and in Serving Others’ Highest and Best Good, yet they ignore those teachings because they were not open to the Truth about Ego.
Each human possesses the Ego – a construct that can be helpful for survival but in worst case scenarios ends up dominating the individual’s actual personality AND circumventing their Path. The Ego is not a Light Being, the Ego is NOT a Guide – it is a Construct designed to help Spiritual Presences acclimate to the environment of the Human Plane.
Two key ways to determine if someone is operating from the Ego instead of from the Spiritual Aspect is to observe their actions and pay attention to their conversation. Everyone has wants and needs, but when someone in the line of energy work is talking about what they want and plan to do without regard to the messages and nudges that Spirit is sending them, they are NOT open. If the individual walks the talk it will show in how they address their life events and in their recognition that Spirit is nudging them in one direction or another. Use your own skill of Discernment to notice if the individual plays the blame game or if they work to incorporate the Light in their life daily.
If someone is not open to their own messages and nudges, do you really want that individual to be practicing upon you? People go to practitioners, channels, mystics etc. to receive assistance from the Light. The practitioner is SUPPOSED to be a SAFE place for them to be vulnerable, to be open to Spirit, and to receive healing.
Ego is extremely harsh and judgmental. Ego does not use discernment when viewing a situation – it hops right onto the judgment train and takes off. When that practitioner is not open to Spirit do you believe the messages or guidance you receive from that individual are 100% from Spirit? Or do you think it more likely that what you receive is that person’s Ego kicking in? Ego is the last thing any client deserves to receive because they beat themselves up daily and they don’t need judgment from a “safe place” added on top of their own insecurities and challenges.
Ego prevents you from recognizing the Truth. Ego will keep your focus on Judgment instead of Discernment. Ego will step in to provide “information” when you are attempting to be a clear Channel. When someone sends the energetic vibration of Judgment into another individual’s energy fields and energy form, healing is not going to occur and Karma will.
We are each responsible for our own actions while here on the earth plane. We are each responsible for our interactions with others and the choices we make that affect them – and actually to a much deeper level than we realize at any given time. Everyone has made mistakes in the past that they will need to heal at some point – no one is perfect! Use this knowledge to Honor the individuals you come across, and use Discernment and resonance to determine if the individuals in your life are meant to be there.
This extends beyond just a teacher or a practitioner at the center down the block you encounter. This includes your friends and family members – even those who are not following the healing path you have taken. You don’t have to rush out and cut everyone out of your life who does not agree with your thoughts or actions – that is rash and short sighted, plus it creates additional challenges.
Instead, take time to review your relationships with individuals. Some individuals think family obligation means you suffer through visitation with the hateful grandfather or alcoholic extended family members, but I beg to differ. I view life extremely different than many individuals and I realize that it is not easy for some people to adopt the way I live my life. However, you are the only person who can save yourself. When the airplane goes down, you have to put on your own oxygen mask before you can help those around you put on theirs.
The first step to putting on your oxygen mask is to meditate upon the situation and the individuals in it. Just because someone says or does something you don’t like does not mean that they need to be removed from your life. Everyone has the right to Free Will. If, however, someone is ugly towards you and is determined to hurt you in some fashion then yes – you do have the right to protect yourself.
How does this tie into Ego? Easily. You have to step back and look at the people in your life with disinterest – not with hurt feelings. You have to truly make the effort to set aside the Ego which has access to all the memories you have of that individual. Once you have done that, then you can look at them and their actions and their words in the “now”.
Did you feel they were hateful when you were growing up and do you feel they are still hateful to you? Or, can you see them as they are now? Take them out of the box the Ego wants to keep them in and look at them clearly, no rose colored glasses of any shape and size. Put them under the microscope called Discernment and see what happens when you do that. Do they shrink down from the monsters you made them into? Or do they stay in that form because of their “now” state?
This is something that should be done regularly, for most of us allow the people we care about a lot of latitude without consciously realizing we are slacking for them. Sometimes family members were generous with us when we were young and so it is difficult to recognize when they are hateful to others around you. It is your responsibility to step back and unemotionally review situations regularly to make sure your Ego is not driving your life actions and choices.
Friends are especially difficult for most people to use discernment with as their weaknesses can be well known to you. It is easy for Ego to pop in and exert its judgment without real regard for your friend’s situation. That is not honoring them. Conversely, it is easy to look away when friends are hurtful to you when Ego tells you that you are better off to have a hateful friend than to be alone.
The Ego will blind you to the Truth. The Ego will attempt everything to keep you from connecting regularly with Spirit. It is time to wake up and realize that the Ego is not your friend. It may be scary at first, but when you set the Ego aside your true Guidance can emerge from the box the Ego crammed it into.
Guidance is loving, compassionate, and truthful. Guidance won’t tell you what you want to hear – it will tell you the Truth, it will tell you what you Need to know. It won’t tell you how to live your life, but it will help you understand what needs to change. Guides, Angelics, your Higher Self – they all Love you unconditionally and unreservedly.
Guidance from 100% of the Light is a more preferable choice than the human plane based Ego.
